Derrylea Hardy

Since joining NZCEE in 2006, Derrylea has been involved in the publication of various articles, reports and books in the Sustainable Pathways programme; and was the Project Manager for the Iwi Ecosystem Services project with Ngati Raukawa. In October 2009 that Iwi Ecosystem Services project was refunded, in a new programme called 'Manaaki Taha Moana', which is looking at restoration of coastal ecosystems that are important to iwi/hapu, particularly in the case study areas with Ngati Raukawa and in Tauranga Moana.

Derrylea is interested in research topics related to the uptake of sustainability indicators, transfer of research knowledge in ecological economics, and exploring issues of sustainability from a social science perspective.

Derrylea has a background in social science research, having worked for a number of years on health services management and mental health-related research, prior to joining NZCEE.

Derrylea has a Bachelor of Business Studies (Hons) Degree in Management, having undertaken research in areas including exploring the implications of the casualisation of the workforce, and New Zealand tourism.
