1994-95 Energy End-Use Database and Optimisation Model - $110,000
The end-uses of energy in each sector of the New Zealand economy was initially quantified for 1991-92, and nominated on a relational database. Sankey diagrams were constructed for each sector depicting the flows of delivered energy (coal, oil, methane gas, petrol, diesel, electricity, LPG, wood) through technologies (29 types) to various end-users (22 types). Nineteen site licences were sold, with commercial property rights sold to EECA in 1995. The database was extended to construct an energy policy optimization model for New Zealand. This provided a basis to determine 'efficient' policy for various objective functions.
