2002 Ecological Footprints of New Zealand Regions - $68,000

The ecological footprints of 16 regions and New Zealand were calculated using an input/output idealology. This project was comissioned by the Ministry for the Environment. The sustainability performance of each of the 16 regions was assessed using the "ecological footprint per capita" and the "degree of overshoot" as the key criteria. A personal ecological footprint calculator was also constructed, and this appeared on the Ministry for the Environment website.
