2001 Indicators for Tracking Progress to Sustainability in the Wellington Region - $10,000

This project aims to identify indicators for measuring progress to sustainability in the Wellington region. It recommends a composite index consisting of three main dimensions (economic, social, environmental) of sustainability development. The project report first focuses on discussing the various theoretical interpretations of sustainability, particularly those based on ecological and economic theory. The range of sustainability indicators are then reviewed, before a final recommendation is made about the exact composition of the composite index.
