2002 Headline Indicators for Measuring Progress to Sustainability in New Zealand - $10,000

This project reviews headline indicators that could be used to measure progress towards sustainabilty in New Zealand. A particular emphasis is placed on indicators that could be implemented in a short-to-medium time horizon. The project reviewed the theoretical foundations of sustainability, before moving to a systematic coverage of particular indicators. Four specific recommendations were made for implementing headline indicators of sustainability in New Zealand. This project was commissioned by the Ministry for the Environment.
